Women on Life is growing at a fast pace and we’re looking to partner with talented writers who can benefit from the exposure of a popular, profession magazine-style website… and earn a little money too.
What is the Contributing Writer Program?
The Women On Life Contributing Writer Program gives freelance writers and bloggers the opportunity to gain exposure by publishing content on a popular women’s health and lifestyle website.
In addition to gaining exposure with a prominently placed author bio box at the end of each article, contributors earn money over the lifetime of each published article.
Who Can Become a Contributing Writer?
At this time we do not have an open-registration policy. We specifically seek to invite talented freelance writers who can back up their experienced with their resume and writing samples. Applicants who our interested in joining the team of contributing writers do not need to necessarily have experience in specific topics, but should be passionate about the subject.
What Are the Minimum Publishing Requirements?
Articles must be in accordance our contributor terms. This includes, producing 100% original content that is informative, 300 words or more in length, and written in an easy to follow format that is free of grammatical and factual errors.
In terms of your commitment, contributing writers work online and set their own schedules, giving them the flexibility to work when it suits them. There are no limits on how many articles you can publish daily, but we ask that contributing writers publish at least 10 articles a month – this, however, is not a requirement.
What is Considered Original Content?
Articles must be written wholly by you and must not appear anywhere else on the web at the time of publication. Altering a small percentage of an article that appears on another site (whether it’s written by you or someone else) does not constitute original material. Using ‘article spinning software’ to rewrite articles is also prohibited.
The quality and originality of articles is extremely important to us, and our editorial team uses tools and resources to easily identify content that has been copied verbatim or re-written from other sources.
If you quote text or people in your article (sourced from any/all media including but not limited to print, radio, television, websites, blogs, Twitter, etc.), you must credit the sources properly.
What Topics Are Available?
You are free to write about any topic that is relevant to the theme of this site and contributes to the overall interest or our readers. It is your best interest to publish articles that have the potential to reach the largest amount of search engine traffic. We recommend you browse through our archives to identify areas that have not been discussed, become familiar with proper SEO strategies, and perform proper keyword research while preparing your content.
I Don’t Know Anything About SEO?
We are interested in partnering with talented writers who have a passion for women’s health and lifestyle. Properly optimizing your content for search engines is a strategy that can be learned, and we do our best to provide adequate training for you so you can get the most of out each article published.
Do I Retain Copyright of My Content?
Yes, you retain copyright to any material you produce for Women On Life. You own the electronic rights but grant WomenOnLife.com the exclusive rights to your content for 6 months. After 6 months you may republish the same material elsewhere, but please credit WomenOnLife.com as the original publisher.
Republishing your content sooner than 6 months could diminish the site’s overall potential to rank all articles competitively in the search engines, which would reduce your income potential, as well as the income of other contributing writers.
Can I Include Affiliate Links or Links to My Business in My Articles?
You may link to 3rd party sites that are relevant to your article and improve the user’s experience. We also encourage you to link to previous articles you’ve published on this site that are relevant to your current article.
Adding affiliate links to your articles, however, is a violation of the Women on Life Contributor Terms, as is self-promotion (e.g., linking your article to your own website, blog, or an article you’ve written for another site) and promoting your clients’ properties.
Your author bio box is a valid outlet for self-promotion.
What Can I Put in My Author Bio Box?
The author bio box is prominently displayed at the end of each article, which can include a few sentences about yourself with all the self promotion you like. We recommend you include a picture of yourself, and you may include a link back to your personal website or business. Affiliate links are not allowed and will be removed.
How Can I Earn Money for My Content Too?
In short, the more high-quality content you produce that attracts readers, the more money you’ll earn. Specifically, we share our advertising revenue with you by giving you a generous 75% of the income generated on your articles’ pages.
When you are accepted in our Contributing Writer Program, you will have the opportunity to submit your Google Publisher ID. This is a number assigned to you by Google, which will allow us to to assign earnings to you that were generated from the Goolgle Ads displayed on your articles. Your earnings can be tracked through the Google AdSense interface, and payments are made directly by Google. When and how you are paid depends on the payment terms you’ve selected in your Google account.
You start earning and accruing money right away, but how much you can earn from your writing depends on many factors including (but not limited to): the popularity of your articles (are you writing on topics that people are interested in reading?); the number of articles you have posted; the keywords you use in your titles, subtitles, subheadings, and body text; the value of the keywords to advertisers; the length of time each article has been displayed; and the speed at which search engines index and rank your articles.
What is Google AdSense?
The ads on this website are Google AdSense Ads (the banner at the top of the page, the text links on the right sidebar, and the text links in the article posts). Google is so successful because they came up with an advertising system that is incredibly smart. Rather than simply displaying the same ad to everyone on every page, Google determines what the content of each individual page is about. Their system then display ads that are specifically relevant to the content of that page. An article about “teeth whitening” will likely display ads about teeth whitening products, for example.
That’s important because you earn money when people clicks these ad. By displaying relevant ads, you are likely to get more clicks.
What If I Don’t Have a Google AdSense Account?
No Problem. It takes just 45-seconds to sign up for free with HERE. Just tell them who you are, how to send your payments, and you’ll get assigned a Publisher ID. All we need is your Publisher ID to make sure you are paid. It’s as simple as that!
How Much Can I Earn?
Earnings for publishing just one article is not likely to be significant, but those who regularly contribute high quality content that attract a large number of readers have the potential to earn a nice residual income, month-after-month. As a rule of thumb, the more readers your articles receive the more you’ll earn. The more content you have published, the more likely Internet users and our community will find your articles and click the ads.
If you average $1 a month from every article you produce, you can expect to make around $100, month-after-month when you have 100 published. That’s a very realistic goal for someone who contributes regularly. Beyond that, each article you continue to publish will only contribute to your income potential. We cannot guarantee how much money you’ll earn, but this serves as a reasonable expectation for someone who contributes regularly.
How Long After My Article is Published Will it Continue to Earn Money?
Forever! We reserve the right to remove articles from our database at any time for any reason, but that would only happen if your account was terminated for violating our Website Terms or Contributor Terms. Otherwise, published articles will continue to earn for you long after you’ve published them.
Can I Promote My Articles?
Yes, we encourage you to promote your content and drive traffic to your articles. Post a message on your Facebook Profile, link to your website by commenting on other blogs, put a signature in your forum profiles, and use social bookmarking – as long as it complies with their site terms. We do not tolerate spam and this behavior will result in immediate termination of your account.
To avoid any problems, do not excessively use social bookmarking or overly promote a single article, and respect the terms of other websites, blogs and forums you use to promote your articles. Do not click your own ads or give incentives for people to click your ads. Doing so is in violation of Google’s AdSense terms and can result in having your account closed and forfeiting earnings.
