Get Flat Abs At Home

Get Flat AbsNot everyone has the time, or the inclination to work out in a gym.  Some would rather sweat and grunt in the privacy of their own homes, or outdoors in the midst of nature.  In order to get flat abs at home, there are some main points you need to know.

Comprehensive Exercise Vs. Spot-Toning

To get flat abs at home we need to debunk the myth that you can simply do a hundred crunches everyday and have a six-pack.  Ok, let me restate that, you’ll have a six-pack alright but it’ll still be buried under a layer of fat.

The idea that you can simply do a set of exercises and get the look you want comes from the notion of “spot-toning.”  What most people fail to tell you is that spot toning only really works when your body is already in shape.

The way to get flat abs at home is to do a comprehensive workout.  I’ll break it down a little further for you.  A comprehensive workout calls for whole-body cardio and strength training.  This means hitting the treadmill and then lifting weights or doing something like Pilates.

Get Flat Abs At Home Through Cardio

Maximize your cardio workouts by doing intense intervals.  This is where you jog (or bike or swim) lightly for two minutes, then go all out for two minutes, and so on.  By keeping your cardio routine from being a long, steady workout, you’ll maximize your fat-burning potential.

Get Flat Abs At Home Through Strength-Training

Strength training is just as crucial as cardio when it comes to getting rock hard abs.  While you definitely want to highlight the abs through several versions of crunches, you’ll also want to put some time into your legs, back, and arms.  Because even though you’ll be working out these other areas, your core (which is made up of your abs), will still be used in every exercise, which will give your abs the ultimate shaping workout.

Get Flat Abs At Home By Tweaking Your Diet

Keeping your blood sugar stable is another great way to help you get flat abs at home.  In order to do this you need to do two things: eat often, and eat wisely.

Tone Your Body By Eating Often

Eating five or six smaller meals and snacks, rather than three large meals plus snacks, will keep your metabolism running high all day long.  By eating regularly at short(er) intervals, your body will constantly have fuel and won’t need to store any up for later.  This also keeps you from eating too much believe it or not.

Get Flat Abs At Home By Eating Wisely

Here’s the hard part in tweaking your diet: eating healthy.  The fact of the matter is that foods that are high in sugar will quickly convert to fat.  This includes candy and sweets, as well as simple carbs like white bread and crackers, potatoes, chips, and popcorn.  These foods have no fiber for your body to break down, which means that instead of their sugary content being let out into your system slowly over time, it’s being let out all at once.

Think of it this way, it’s the difference between using coals to keep a fire burning longer, or using a can of gasoline.  One causes the flame (your metabolism) to burn at a pretty even, steady rate for a long period of time while the other causes an immediate fireball.  The sudden fireball effect on your blood sugar, when abused time and again, will eventually lead to diabetes and other health problems.

The ability to get flat abs at home comes in part through maintaining a healthy, stable diet.  This diet should be made up of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and whole-grain carbs.  Ease up on the salt and sugar as much as possible and you’ll find yourself on the way to getting flat abs at home.
