The skin under and around your eyes is some of the thinnest, most delicate skin you possess on your whole body. Because this skin is so fragile, it’s usually the first place you’ll start to see wrinkles as you get older. While wrinkles are inevitable, there are ways you can reduce and slow their advance.
Here are some tips for getting rid of wrinkles under eyes:
- Drink your water! Getting in your daily water requirement will go a long way towards preventing and getting rid of wrinkles under eyes. To find out how much water you should be drinking each day, perform the following simple equation. Multiply your weight times .5 to find the number of ounces you need to drink. To find out how many cups that is, take your answer and divide it by eight.
For example, for a person who weighs 120lbs, the equation would look like this: 120lbs x .5 = 60oz. To find out how many cups sixty ounces of water is: 60oz/8oz per cup = 7.5cups of water. Also remember that if you’re eating a lot of fresh produce or whole-grains, your need for water will go down as you will already be getting a lot from these foods.
- Use a humidifier. Your body loses water while it sleeps simply by breathing out. Using a humidifier keeps your skin moisturized and prevents wrinkles from being so noticeable.
- Botox injections are known for effectively getting rid of wrinkles under eyes. This type of injection will actually freeze the muscles around the eyes, creating a smooth appearance. Botox, however, is not permanent, and you will need maintenance sessions every few months.
- Gently applying a moisture and collagen-rich cream will also help with getting rid of wrinkles under the eyes. Look for creams that penetrate deep into your dermis in order to help smooth and repair aged skin.
- There are many laser surgery treatments available as well. A laser will burn away the top layer of skin, which will in turn, prompt your body to heal by producing a new, fresh layer of skin.
- Lastly, be sure to cover your eyes with sunglasses, a large floppy hat, sunblock, or all of the above. Prevention is the surest way of minimizing under-eye wrinkles.
By treating the fragile skin around your eyes with a high-quality eye cream, or by surgery or injection, you will find yourself on your way towards getting rid of wrinkles under eyes.
