High-Energy Foods Vs. Low Energy Foods – Part One

Every woman needs high-energy foods in order to make it through even one of her days.  Unfortunately today we’re surrounded by more unhealthy, low energy foods, than ever before, yet most of us don’t realize it.  Here are five foods to avoid, and in our next post, four foods to include in your diet.

Low Energy Foods To Avoid

Candy Bars. It doesn’t matter how convincing the commercials are, adding a few peanuts into a candy bar doesn’t make up for the energy-sucking sugar crash that comes from eating one.  Simply put, candy bars are low energy foods to avoid.

Energy Drinks. This one is a pretty deceptive one, and there are probably one or two exceptions out there – at best.  But for the most part, energy drinks, like any other caffeinated drink, are only good for a little while.  Like candy bars, these low energy foods follow a rollercoaster high-to-low energy crash that can leave you more run-down than you were to begin with.

Fast Food and TV Dinners. Near the top of the low energy foods list are all those burgers, pieces of fried chicken, French fries and other fast food items that make America fat.  These, and frozen food meals, are nutritionally deficient.  And, thanks to all of the chemical additives and processing they go through, these foods also extremely hard for the body to process.

Energy/Nutrition/Protein Bars. Most of these can be classified as low energy foods due to the high sugar content.  While it might seem like a healthy choice, these bars are no more than trumped up candy bars with a few more vitamins.  Again, there are usually one or two exceptions.

Junk Food. Chips, pizza rolls, candy, heavily salted – or sugared – nuts, fruit snacks, etc, etc.  As with fast foods and candy bars, these foods are full of chemical additives, unhealthy trans fats, and more empty calories than you’d need in three lifetimes.  All of these foods are poor choices for keeping your energy running strong all day long.

In our next post we’ll cover the top four high-energy foods that you should be incorporating into your diet on a regular basis.
